What is Skavelo?
The key ideas behind Skavelo, and the words you'll see throughout the dashboard.
Skavelo is a help widget that understands your product. Instead of sending users to a help center or a support queue, it answers them where they are, inside your app, and shows them exactly where to click.
Key ideas
Agent. An agent is Skavelo set up for one product. It holds everything Skavelo has learned about that product, its widget settings and its conversations. Most companies need one agent; if you run separate products, or very different experiences for different users, you can create more.
Learning. Skavelo reads your public website and help docs, and can also explore your web app with a test account. It turns what it reads into knowledge for answers, and into a map of your screens for walkthroughs. See Teaching Skavelo.
The widget. A small launcher at the bottom of your app. Users click it, or one of its suggestions, to ask a question. It loads in its own isolated layer, so it never changes how your app looks or behaves.
Product map. The screens, buttons and fields Skavelo found in your app, plus the step-by-step workflows it drafted from them. Walkthroughs follow these workflows. See Walkthroughs.
Skills. Actions Skavelo can carry out in your app on the user's behalf, such as sending an invoice reminder. You define each one, and users approve every action before it runs. See Skills.
The three ways Skavelo helps
Answer
A short, direct reply to the user's question, based on what Skavelo learned from your content. Answers name the actual buttons and menus in your product and link to the pages they came from. If Skavelo doesn't know something, it says so instead of guessing.
Show
A walkthrough on screen. Skavelo highlights the first button to click, waits for the user to click it, then moves to the next step, even across page loads.
Do
For tasks you've set up as skills, Skavelo proposes the action, shows every value it will send, and runs it only after the user clicks Run action.
What Skavelo needs from you
At minimum, the address of your app. Skavelo can start answering from your public pages right away. Adding a test account, your help docs, files and team notes all make answers more complete. Nothing requires engineering work except adding the widget snippet to your app, which takes a few minutes.
