# Upload files (/docs/teaching-skavelo/files)

Some of your best knowledge lives in documents: onboarding guides, internal FAQs, product specs or release notes. Upload them on the agent's **Files & notes** tab.

## Supported files [#supported-files]

| Format | Notes |
| --- | --- |
| Markdown (`.md`) | Best for structured docs; headings help Skavelo find the right section |
| Plain text (`.txt`) | Any text content |
| PDF (`.pdf`) | Text-based PDFs; scanned images of text can't be read |

Each file can be up to 50 MB.

## Uploading [#uploading]

Click **Upload**, or drag files onto the page. Each file shows its status, **Uploading** and then **Reading**, and changes to **In use** once Skavelo can use it in answers.

## Removing a file [#removing-a-file]

Click the trash icon next to the file. Skavelo stops using what it learned from that file immediately. You can upload it again at any time.

<Callout title="Keeping files current">
  Skavelo doesn't track changes to a file after upload. When a document changes, remove the old version and upload the new one.
