# Skills (/docs/skills)

Skills connect Skavelo to your API. There are two types:

- **Lookups** read a user's own data, so Skavelo can answer questions about their account, such as "Which of my invoices are overdue?". They only use `GET` and run without asking.
- **Actions** do things, such as "Send a reminder for invoice INV-1042". Skavelo shows exactly what it will send, and runs it once the user clicks **Run action**.

Both run from the user's browser with their own session, so Skavelo can only see and do what they already can.

Your first skill is free: Free includes 1 switched on, Starter up to 5, and Growth and Enterprise as many as you like. Switched off skills don't count, so you can set up more and choose which to use.
