# Frequently asked questions (/docs/faq)

## Setup [#setup]

<Accordions>
<Accordion title="Do I need a developer to install Skavelo?">

Installing takes one snippet added to your app's shared layout. If you use Google Tag Manager, you can add it without changing any code. Otherwise, use **Email the install steps** on the Install tab to send your developer everything they need. See [Install the widget](/docs/installing/install-the-widget).

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="Do I have to give Skavelo a login to my app?">

No. Skavelo can answer from your public website, help docs, files and team notes without one. A test account lets it learn your signed-in screens and draft walkthroughs for them. See [Signed-in apps and test accounts](/docs/teaching-skavelo/test-accounts).

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="Will Skavelo change anything in my app while it learns?">

No. Apart from signing in with your test account, it only opens pages by following links. It doesn't click buttons or submit forms, and it skips links that look like log out, delete or cancel subscription. See [How learning stays safe](/docs/security-and-privacy/how-learning-stays-safe).

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="How often does Skavelo re-learn my product?">

Every week by default, or every day if you choose. It only processes pages that changed. You can also trigger a run after each deploy. See [Learning runs](/docs/teaching-skavelo/learning-runs).

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="Can I use Skavelo on more than one product?">

Yes. Create an agent for each product. The number of agents depends on your plan; see [Plans and billing](/docs/account-team-billing/plans-and-usage). To show different agents on different pages of one site, see [Multiple agents on one site](/docs/installing/multiple-agents).

## The widget [#the-widget]

<Accordions>
<Accordion title="Will the widget affect my app's design or speed?">

The widget renders in its own isolated layer, so it can't change your styles and your styles can't change it. Add the snippet just before the closing `</body>` tag, as the [install guide](/docs/installing/install-the-widget) shows, and your page content loads first.

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="Does it work in single-page apps?">

Yes. Skavelo follows navigation without page reloads, re-checks targeting rules as users move between pages, and keeps walkthroughs going across screens.

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="Does it work on phones?">

Yes. The widget adapts to small screens. You can also show it only on desktop or only on phones with [Targeting](/docs/customizing/targeting).

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="Can signed-out visitors use it?">

Yes. Their conversations are anonymous. Once your app calls `identify`, Skavelo knows who's signed in. See [Identify signed-in users](/docs/installing/identify-users).

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="How do I remove the Skavelo branding?">

"Powered by Skavelo" shows on the Free plan. It's removed on every paid plan.

</Accordion>

## Answers [#answers]

<Accordions>
<Accordion title="What happens when Skavelo doesn't know the answer?">

It says so, instead of guessing. If you've set up [handoff](/docs/conversations/handoff), it also offers the user a way to reach your team.

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="An answer was wrong. How do I fix it?">

Find the conversation in [Conversations](/docs/conversations/conversation-log). Then add a [team note](/docs/teaching-skavelo/team-notes) with the correct information, or add the page that covers it to [Learning](/docs/teaching-skavelo/websites-and-web-apps). Skavelo uses a new note in its very next answer.

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="Can Skavelo take actions for my users?">

Yes, with [skills](/docs/skills). Your first lookup or action is free, Starter has up to 5 switched on, and Growth and Enterprise have as many as you like. Users approve every action before it runs, and actions use their own permissions.

</Accordion>
</Accordions>

## Billing [#billing]

<Accordions>
<Accordion title="What counts as a conversation?">

A conversation starts with a visitor's first question and includes their follow-ups until they've been quiet for 30 minutes. Up to 20 test conversations a month with **Try it** don't count. See [Plans and billing](/docs/account-team-billing/plans-and-usage).

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="What happens if we reach our monthly limit?">

On any plan, Free included, you can buy extra conversations, $25 per 1,000, which are used once the month's allowance runs out. When everything is used, the widget tells visitors that help isn't available right now until the allowance renews. Owners and admins get an email at 80% and 100%. See [Plans and billing](/docs/account-team-billing/plans-and-usage).

</Accordion>
<Accordion title="How do I change my plan?">

On the **Billing** page, choose a plan and monthly or annual billing, then confirm. Upgrades take effect straight away. For Enterprise, use **Talk to us**.
