# Guide cursor (/docs/customizing/guide-cursor)

During a walkthrough, a cursor labelled with your assistant's name glides from the widget to the button or field for each step, the way a teammate's cursor moves in a shared document. When it arrives, the step's highlight appears around the control.

- **In a walkthrough**, the cursor shows the way and then fades, so the user makes the click themselves.
- **When a user asks Skavelo to do a task**, the cursor presses each button and types each detail into its field where the user can watch, then stops on the final button for them to check and click. See [Filling in forms for users](/docs/walkthroughs/filling-in-forms).

The cursor and its label use your **Accent** color, and the label shows the **Assistant name** from the Appearance tab.

## Switch it on or off [#switch-it-on-or-off]

The guide cursor is on by default. To switch it off, open the agent's **Appearance** tab and turn off **Guide cursor** under **Highlight**. The preview plays the walkthrough again so you can see the difference. Without it, walkthroughs show the highlight on its own, and Skavelo still fills in forms when asked.

In code, set `theme: { cursor: false }`; see the [SDK reference](/docs/developers/sdk-reference).

## How it behaves [#how-it-behaves]

- **Never in the way.** The cursor doesn't take clicks and screen readers skip it. It rests at the corner of the control, so it doesn't cover the label.
- **Computers only.** Phones and tablets have no cursor to mirror, so they show the highlight alone.
- **Reduced motion is respected.** Users who turn on reduced motion see the cursor appear at the control without gliding.
- **It waits for the page.** When a control is lower down the page or inside a menu that's opening, the cursor waits until it's in place before moving.
