# Welcome to Skavelo (/docs)

Skavelo is an in-product guide for software companies. It sits in a small widget on your app, answers your users' questions in plain language, walks them through tasks by highlighting each button on screen, and can carry out actions for them once they approve.

You teach it once, from your website, your help docs and your app itself, and it keeps learning as your product changes.

## How Skavelo helps your users [#how-skavelo-helps-your-users]

| Mode | What the user sees | What it needs |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Answer** | A short reply in plain language, with links to the pages it came from | Your website, help docs, files or notes |
| **Show** | A walkthrough that highlights each button and field, one step at a time | Your web app, added in Learning |
| **Do** | A proposed action with every value it will send, which runs only after the user approves | A skill you set up (your first one is free) |

Skavelo picks the right mode for each question. If it can't help, it can pass the conversation to your support team; see [Hand conversations to your team](/docs/conversations/handoff).
